Last Wednesday I decided to take my sister outside in the snow to take some pictures. I knew what I was getting myself into, yet somehow I'm never fully prepared. Not only is she my most difficult (but favorite!) subject to photograph, but in the snow...she can be a BULLY!
We were only outside for about ten minutes. The reason for this is because it was incredibly cold, neither of us had snow suits or proper boots, and she was DOMINATING me. For those who don't know Kaitlyn, she is FAST and she is STRONG. When I wasn't being chased around the yard, I was getting snow thrown directly into my face (and camera lens!) And when she wasn't throwing snow at me, she was eating it.
But she had a blast. And I had a blast, although some suppressed memories of my childhood came to surface (ahem...Tommy and Sean beating me up in the snow....)
But the best part was when we came inside. As I was helping her get changed out of her frozen snow-covered outfit, she looked up at me with a huge smile, gave me a thumbs up, and simply said "AWESOME." That was followed by a huge hug and a "Thank you, Colleen."
This is why I LOVE THIS CHILD.
This girl truly reminds us every day that it's the little things in life that matter. My sister is as beautiful and important to me as if she were my child. And that will never change, even when I have my own children one day. They'll just be right up there with their Aunt Kaitlyn <3
